George Bacon is an avid irisarian and the owner and operator of Breezeway Iris Gardens in Brooklyn, Wisconsin. Originally launched in 2009 alongside his mother, Doris, the business became George's full-time focus following his retirement after nearly two decades as a costume designer and technician at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

A leader in the iris community, George served as President of the Madison Area Iris Society for 10 years. He is an American Iris Society (AIS) Accredited Master Judge, AIS Regional Vice President, and the Region 8 Judges' Chair. George has been hybridizing irises for about 15 years and has introduced 14 bearded iris cultivars to date.
